Ultrasound #2
Well it's only my second ultrasound and I'm already on a first name basis with pretty much the whole perinatal diagnostic center! So I went today for my second vaginal ultrasound to check follicular growth and "D" was my sonographer again. She was doing the exam and got a huge smile on her face and said, rather excited, "they look so much different". I said, I hope that's a good thing, and she said YES!! Their setup in the room is very nice, they perform the exam with their ultrasound machine and then there is a TV on the wall that I get to see everything they are looking at and I have to say, she was right, they looked so different. My ovaries looked like a crater with big black holes (which are follicles) all over them, that means the medicine is working....yay!! "D" then told me that she thought they needed to be about 2 cm, or 15 mm to be considered "viable" to release an egg, so she measured all the big ones so that my doctor would know. After the exam was done, I asked "D" if she knew how the information gets released to my OB/GYN and how he schedules the insemination based on the results because all he told me was when the time was right, he would perform the insemination, and I'm just worried about timing since I don't have my ultrasounds done in his office. So "D" says, hold on and let me let you talk to "C", she does a lot of research in this department. Well "C" happened to be "D's" friend that she shared a little bit about at my first appointment. "C" probably had the most challenging journey to pregnancy that I've ever heard of but it ends on a positive note....she has triplets!!! WOW! When "D" talked to me about her best friend, she told me she had a baby, so I said, to her, you just said she had a baby, you didnt tell me she had 3!! "D" started laughing and said I didnt want to scare you, but Jason and I know that with Clomid and going through fertility treatments, multiples are definitely a possibility...kinda exciting! I again thank God for putting these two wonderful women in my life, I stayed and talked with them for about an hour and I found so much comfort in talking to them. "C" told me that she is always there if I want to talk and that makes me feel 100% better knowing that I can talk to someone who has been in my shoes. Thank you God for always working in my life and putting awesome people who I can learn from in my path. You're amazing!
